A Multi-Component WCM Enhancement, SiteBuilder is comprised of the following:

  1. Web Content Manager – An AJAX based alternative to Web Publisher classic view. Features include: search, filtered search, advanced search container/component/personalized component relationship display, configurable display options, configurable actions, column sorts, and much more.

  2. Web Composer – A lightweight, in-context forms-based editing application. It is designed for the non-technical business user, the “knowledge worker," providing a simple approach for managing web content. Web Composer reduces the need for specialized skills and training, allowing users to be more productive in less time.

  3. Dynamic Content Generator – A component that assembles content (such as index pages or navigation files) at design time based on configurable set of criteria. This allows the routing of dynamically assembled content through workflow or manual approval process.

  4. Navigation Designer – A component to add, remove, re-order, sort, style and maintain links in a navigation. Navigation Designer provides the ability to extend navigations with custom fields for complex navigations.

  5. Site Wizard – A wizard that walks a contributor through a series of configuration interfaces to set up the infrastructure of a site in Documentum.  The Site Wizard provides the ability create a new site or copying an existing one in just a few minutes.

  6. Template Wizard – A streamlined and simplified interface used to create new content templates or edit existing templates. The Template Wizard provides web developers with the ability to easily configure template security, metadata, layout, and design.

  7. Style Manager – A component that provides intuitive management for CSS classes in a multiuser environment and applies classes to content across sites and users.

  8. Content Reuse – A component that enables copying and linking of content across multiple web sites.  Content Reuse promotes efficiency and content sharing across the enterprise web content management system for a consistent look and feel. 

Whats New in SiteBuilder 6.2?

  • Web Content Manager Enhancements
    • Check-out to local machine enhancement – This enhancement provides authors with the choice to export files for local editing upon checkout without the use of Java.  This eliminates the need for Java to be installed on a client machine to use Web Content Manager.
    • Check-in from file enhancement– This enhance provides authors with the ability to check a local file into the repository as a new version withut the use of Java.  This eliminates the need for Java to be installed on a client machine to use Web Content Manager.
  • Web Composer Enhancements
    • Web Composer Copy File Plug-in – The copy plug-in provides authors with the ability to copy a file to another site.
    • Web Composer Save File As Plug-in – The save file as plug-in provides authors to save the object they are editing as a new file within the same site.
    • Web Composer Link File Plug-in – The link file plug-in provides authors with the ability to link a file between multiple sites.
    • Web Composer Version Comparison and Redlining Plug-in – The version comparison plug-in provides authors with the ability to compare different versions of content. Variations in the content is highlighted to easily view the differences between content.
    • Web Composer Spider Site Plug-in – The Spider Site plug-in provides site managers with the ability to produce a report of broken links for a site. The spider will crawl the site it is directed to and produced a report that is sent to the user’s inbox.
    • Web Composer Performance Improvements – Encoding and decoding of data has been moved from the client to the server side.  This improves processing speed on edit and save actions within Web Composer.
  • SiteBuilder and Web Composer Enhancements
    • JavaScript and CSS compression - When a JavaScript or CSS file is checked-in a compressed rendition is attached to the primary object within the Documentum repository.  Compressed files are smaller in file size and there fore are downloaded to a browser much faster therefore improving the user experience.
